If you have used CADC facilities for your research, please include
the following acknowledgment:
This research used the facilities of
the Canadian Astronomy Data Centre operated by the
National Research Council of Canada with the support of the Canadian
Space Agency.
This page gives you access to the Canadian version of the Hubble Space Telescope Archive,
the complete listing of all observations obtained with the Hubble Space Telescope.
The Hubble Archive project is a collaboration between the
NRC's Canadian Astronomy Data Centre (CADC), Victoria and the
The Space Telescope European coordinating Facility, ST-ECF, Munich and the
Space Telescope Science Institute (STScI) in Baltimore.
The main archive includes the following products:
- The standard Hubble Space Telescope archive
- The Hubble Legacy Archive, HLA
- The WFPC2B associations (depreciated)
The CADC Hubble Space Telescope Archive has several access points::
The NEW HST/HLA Science Observations. Based on work by Rick White(STScI) and Felix Stoehr (ST-ECF)
The HST/HLA Science Observations Please note: The use is strongly encourage to use the new interface (link above) instead.
The WFPC2B associations Please note that the WFPC2B associations are depreciated and not maintained anymore. The user should use the HLA (Hubble Legacy Archive) products for WFPC2 instead.
One can now subscribe to a general RSS feeds for HST which will announce any
new public observations available for the past 15 days. One could subsribe to the RSS feed using the following
construct: http://www.cadc.hia.nrc.gc.ca/cadcbin/hst/rss-hst.py In addition,
if you would like to subsribe to a specific RSS feed for your favorite object, just add "target=target_name" at the end of the URL. For example this construct will let you check the latest 100 public observations for 47tucanae: http://www.cadc.hia.nrc.gc.ca/cadcbin/hst/rss-hst.py?target=47tuc"
An explanation of the HST Pipeline used at CADC to produced calibrated data is available.
The Archive Data Retrieval facility allows users to request and receive
archive data . Users don't have to register anymore because:
- We are now caching all HST files. The calibration is occuring in the background
continously.
- We have changed the way to get data. An applet tool will allow you to download directly
the data on your local host.
Users should enable Java and Javascript in their web browsers to experience
all of the features of the HST Science Archive.
We make use of the Centre de Données de Strasbourg's (CDS) Aladin Java
applet for previews so you will also receive a security warning when you
first launch a preview. Previews are also available in png/jpg format for faster access.
To begin an HST archive search, select one of the queries in the
Queries menu above. In many cases you will want to
start a search of the Science Catalogue.
The Documentation menu provides information to get you started if you are
confused by the query forms. Click on Form Help for more detailed
instructions on making efficient use of the query form. In most cases
descriptions of each field in a form can also be retrieved by clicking on the
field's link.
